Terms of Use
Last updated: 9 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the Voces iOS application and this website, both operated by Alexey Ovod (“we”, “us”). Installing or using the app means you accept them.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Voces on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not redistribute the app, extract and republish its bundled content, reverse-engineer it except where that right cannot legally be excluded, or resell access to it.
Using Voces in your own teaching — with your students, choir or class — is expressly permitted and encouraged. Providing access to it as a paid service of your own is not; for institutional use, see hello@hearvoices.app.
Subscriptions and payment
- Voces offers a free tier, auto-renewing monthly and annual subscriptions, and a one-time lifetime unlock.
- All payment is processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never handle your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited if you purchase a subscription during the trial.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Prices are shown in the app before purchase and vary by region. We may change prices for future periods; existing subscribers are notified by Apple and, where Apple's tools permit, are kept on the rate they signed up at.
Refunds
Purchases are made from Apple, and refunds are granted by Apple under its own policy — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves. If something in the app is broken, tell us anyway: we would rather fix it.
Content and rights
The music in Voces is by Johann Sebastian Bach and is in the public domain. The digital score encodings are used under the licences of their sources, principally the Mutopia Project; sound is produced from the GeneralUser GS SoundFont by S. Christian Collins, used under its licence. The full, per-piece list of sources and licences is available inside the app. The app itself — its code, design, exercises, difficulty model, written material and artwork, including the icon — remains our property.
What Voces is not
It is an ear-training tool, not a medical device and not a hearing test. It cannot diagnose anything about your hearing, and results in it are not an assessment of musical ability. Use headphones at a sensible volume.
Availability and warranty
We aim for the app to work well and to keep improving it, but it is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that pitch detection will be accurate in every acoustic environment, on every voice, or with every microphone.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country that cannot be limited by agreement — including statutory rights to a remedy for a faulty digital product.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Voces is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Changes and termination
We may update the app and these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date. We may suspend access in the event of unlawful use or attempts to circumvent purchase mechanisms. You may stop using Voces at any time by deleting it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence.
